HURTACK- George T., 80, of Mundys Corner, entered into God’s eternal care on May 16, 2010 from Windber Hospice. Born April 26, 1930 in Nanty Glo, son of the late Paul Sr. and Anna (Havran) Hurtack. Preceded in death by brothers, Michael, Paul Jr., Joseph, John and Andrew; and sisters, Mary Lais and Clara Gongloff. Survived by wife of 57 years, the former Barbara Gartrell; daughter, Kathleen and husband John “Jim” Stefanik, Ebensburg; sons, Joseph and wife Sandra (Johns) Hurtack, East Berlin; and Stephen Hurtack, at home. Grandchildren, Kevin and wife Erin (Toland) Stefanik, Keith Stefanik, Timothy, Leanne and Andrew Hurtack. Great Grandchildren, Karli and Ryan Stefanik. Sister, Helen and husband John Kozorosky, Mundys Corner. Also survived by numerous sisters in law, brothers in law and nieces and nephews. Member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Mundys Corner. US Air Force Veteran. Retired from Bethlehem Steel. Member of the Sunday Afternoon Mixed Bowling League. George’s many outdoor activities included boating, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. Friends will be received from 3-7 pm on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo where vigil prayer service will be held. Friends are asked to meet the family at St. John Vianney Church at 11am on Thursday for a Funeral Mass, the Rev. Andrew C. Stanko, celebrant. Committal at Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers donations in George’s memory may be made to Conemaugh Palliative Care or Windber Hospice.
