Obituary of Robert M. Koenig

KOENIG Robert M. Rob , 49, of Portage, and formerly of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 21, 2015 at home. Born May 7, 1965 in Johnstown, son of Karl and Marie (Gavin) Koenig. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter Deanna Rose and his brother-in-law Brian Buynack. Survived by his wife, Theresa (Buynack), to whom he was married almost 25 years and children: Ian, Katelyn, Jeremy, and Matthew, all at home. Also his parents, of Ebensburg, and brothers Karl (Linda) Koenig, Florida; Mark (Linda) Koenig, Nanty Glo; Kevin, California; Tom, of Ebensburg and Brian of Lebanon, Pa; father-in-law and mother-in-law Patrick and Isabel (Anna) Buynack, Ebensburg; brothers and sisters-in-law: Stephen Buynack, Georgia; Jeffrey (Lori) Buynack, Ebensburg; Kathleen (Brett) Robinson, Georgia; Vince (Jessica) of Colver; Eric Buynack, Ebensburg and Christine (Nick) Polchito, Mineral Point, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Rob was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Portage and a former member of Holy Name Parish in Ebensburg. He had been employed before his illness at Cookson in Duncansville. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, working on his car, and spending time with his family. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m, Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Monsignor David Lockard, celebrant. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rob s family.
