McEvoy - Robert P. McEvoy Bob , 90, of Revloc, Pa, passed away July 18, 2015 with family by his side at Valley View Care Center, Altoona. Born May 17, 1925 in Nanty-Glo, son of the late Peter Francis and Henrietta (Conrad) McEvoy. He was preceded in death by brothers: Paul, Jack, Charles, & Joe McEvoy, and sisters, Rita Johnson & Annie Smith. Survived by wife of 68 years, Dolores Faye Dude McEvoy, and daughters: Lana Chanda, of Arizona and Terri, married to David Popp of Windber. Loving grandfather to Brandi, wife of Keith Nelson, of Las Vegas; Rick Rochelle of San Diego, California, and Jocelyn Popp of Windber. Great-grandfather to Keith and Kennedy Nelson of Las Vegas. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joys of his life. He was retired from Bethlehem Mine #32 after 34 years, employed in the positions of Section Foreman and Mine Inspector. He served in Europe during World War II as Tank Commander with the 70th Tank Battalion. Member of UMWA Local #850; 70th Tank Battalion Association, and Veterans of The Battle of the Bulge Organization . In his younger years, he coached Little League, assisted in the organization of community events and volunteered as a fire fighter in the town that he loved, Revloc. Bob was an avid Steeler fan, loved to travel, liked crossword puzzles and was dedicated to his family. No matter what the hardship, he never complained, and always thought of himself last. We will miss his simplicity, his humble heart and his sense of humor. He was so loved by his family. Special thanks to Grane Hospice Care of Hollidaysburg for all the excellent care they provided. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, the Rev. Monsignor David Lockard, officiating. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Valley View Care Center, Altoona PA
