VAN DYCK -Joan E., of Ebensburg, passed away July 16, 2015. Born July 7, 1928 in New York, NY, daughter of the late Eugene and Margaret Agnes (Dorney) Trautlein. Preceded in death by husband, Edward, who passed away in 1977. Survived by devoted daughter, Laura, wife of Thaddeus Wolf, Ebensburg, loving grandchildren Jack and Grace. Also survived by brothers, Dr. Joseph Trautlein of Harrisburg and Eugene Trautlein of Chicago. Joan was a member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church and was a service representative for Bell Telephone Company for over 40 years. Joan lived a long and full life including witnessing the Hindenburg flying over New York City on its fateful trip, being in Times Square on VJ Day on August 14, 1945 (along with that now-famous sailor and nurse), enjoying multiple cross country and European trips with friends and family and having residences ranging from New York to California. Joan was a loving and devoted woman, caring for her uncles and brothers upon the early death of her own Mother. She lived with a kind, generous and patient heart, touching the lives of those she met, ever present, giving and loving to her family and especially her cherished grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the Askew Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, followed by Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. David Lockard, celebrant. Committal, Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Harrisburg.
