DIXON James Rollen Bud, 87, a resident of 41 Old Meadow Lane, Austin, died peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at his daughter s home in Franklin, following an extended illness. Born June 22, 1928, in Nanty Glo, Cambria County, he was a beloved son of the late Samuel Wallace Dixon and Mary Irene Zeiters Dixon. Mr. Dixon had worked very hard all of his life as a coal miner, where he was a member of Bethlehem Mines Local 850 for more than 67 years. He retired from coal mining in 1985, following more than 37 years in the mines. Mr. Dixon was a longtime member of the East Fork Sportsmen s Club. He enjoyed gardening and cutting the grass at his home, and was a lifetime avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his home in the mountains of Potter County. He was married to former Kathleen Mae Shaffer, who preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2012. He is survived by his children, James R. Dixon Jr., and his wife, Deb, Revloc; Samuel Dixon, and his wife, Naomi, Revloc; Pamela Stiehler, Slidell, La.; Donald Dixon, Austin; Leonard Dixon, and his wife, Deb, Clymer; and Beth Cook, and her husband, Patrick, Franklin; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Betty Noel, Altoona; Paul Dixon, and his wife, LeVaughn, Ebensburg; John Dixon, Colver; and Harry Dixon, and his wife, Carol, Colver, and loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel and Frank; five sisters, Mabel, June, Noramae, Marlin and Margaret; his son-in-law, Anthony Stiehler; and his great-grandson, Brady Dixon. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation. A memorial service in celebration of his life is being planned by his family and will be announced at a later time.
