ZANZUCCKI Dr. Albert, Ebensburg, died Sept. 18, 2015 He was 99. Born July 22, 1916, in Colver, Dr. Zan was son of Francesco and Maria (Spalazi) Zanzuccki. Preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Joseph; brother, Joseph; and sister, Louise (Gallo). He was a special agent for the Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) during World War II. He received his bachelor s degree from Indiana State Teachers College, now Indiana University of Pennsylvania, his master s of education from the University of Pittsburgh and his doctorate in education from Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Zan was professor of accounting and chair of the school of business at St. Francis University, Loretto, from 1946 to 1984. Following his retirement as a professor emeritus, he went to the university every morning to raise funds for the school of business. In 2006, John and Sheila Connors established the Dr. Albert A. Zanzuccki Endowed Chair in Business Administration. Devoted husband of former Velsie Carnavali, and loving father of Linda, wife of Thomas Myron, Pittsburgh; Francesco, husband to Joyce (Minish), Wall Township, N.J.; Regina, wife of Ron Ponchione, Ebensburg; and Louise, wife of Ed Coon, Leawood, Kan. Dr. Zan is survived by 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Dr. Zan was a lifelong teacher, who loved his family, his garden, his car (especially), and tax season. He never stopped learning and was often found reading the Italian dictionary or the St. Francis alumni directory. The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Chapel at St. Francis University, where Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Wednesday. Entombment, Holy Name Mausoleum, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Dr. Albert Zanzuccki Scholarship Fund.
