TRANQUILLO - Patricia Ann (Goss), born September 18, 1929, died at home surrounded by her family on October 2, 2015, at the age of 86. Preceded in death by beloved husband, Victor F. Tranquillo, father J. Leo Goss, mother Mary (McHugh) Goss and siblings Elizabeth Nickel and James Goss. Survived by sisters Rose Ludwig and Mary Moore; sisters-in-law Louise Tranquillo and Geraldine Leiden, and brother-in-law Alfred Tranquillo. Also survived by children, Linda (Fred) Orehowsky, Vicki Lynn (Joe) Collura, Patti Lou (Jim) King, Theresa (Joe) Mignogna, and Victor (Valarie) Tranquillo. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Patricia graduated from Altoona Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1950 and went on to enjoy a distinguished career in health care and services for the elderly. First, she was employed as a registered nurse at the Cresson Sanatorium, followed by ten years of private duty nursing throughout the community. She served as a nurse supervisor at the Cambria County Home (now Cambria Care) and also worked alongside Dr. A. D. Martin at Colver Hospital, first, as a nurse supervisor and eventually becoming the Chief Administrator and a member of the Hospital s board of directors. It was during Patricia s tenure as Chief Administrator that Colver Hospital successfully earned qualification to receive Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements a significant milestone for a rural hospital at the time. In 1976, Patricia moved on to focus on providing care and services to the elderly. She became the coordinator and director of several County level programs focused on elder care, including, Cambria County Mobile Health Unit, Head Start Program, and the Home Health Aid Program. In1982, she was named Chief Operating Officer and Director of Community Home Services for Community Action Council. In 1987, she founded Tranquil Manor Personal Care Home of Patton, PA., realizing her goal of owning and operating a personal care home for the elderly. Patricia served as owner and administrator of Tranquil Manor until her retirement in 1998. Patricia lived a life of service to others and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Throughout her distinguished career, she would always say her greatest accomplishment was her family. Friends will be received from 2:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Askew Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday October 6, 2015 at Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Monsignor David Lockard, celebrant. Committal at Holy Name Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Patricia s memory may be made to Lilly Coal Miner s Memorial Park Maintenance Care Fund, 417 Cleveland Street, Lilly, PA 15938.
