NANNA – Julia L. (Aroney), 96, of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully December 29, 2015 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born May 23, 1919 in Revloc, daughter of the late Alphonso and Philomena (Aceti) Aroney. Last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by husband Michael A. Nanna; brothers: Anthony, Humbert, Ernest, Joseph & Michael; and sisters Evelyn Rovida and Mary Pasa, as well as an infant brother and sister. Survived by children: Joseph (Patricia) Nanna, of Tennessee; Thomas (Carol) Nanna, Chicago, IL.; and Susan (Dennis) Glass, of Ebensburg; six grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters-in-law; Helen Verno, Johnstown, Janet Nanna, Ebensburg, and Kay Nanna, Johnstown. She was a longtime member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Retired, she had served as a clerk for the judges at Cambria County Courthouse for many years. In her youth, she worked in the family grocery, the former Aroney’s Market in Ebensburg, she and her husband also owned the former Tibbott Restaurant. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Ebensburg Country Club and the Italian Sons & Daughters of America. She was a wonderful baker noted for her nut rolls which she shared with many in the community. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 9th, at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Monsignor David Lockard, celebrant. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Julie’s memory may be made to the Sisters of St. Anne in Ebensburg, or to The Ebensburg Cambria Area Free Public Library.
