PEARSON – Mary Ellen, 91, of Ebensburg passed away January 8, 2016 surrounded by her family. Born September 27, 1924 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Alonzo and Clara. Preceded in death by husband Joseph W. Pearson, daughter-in-law Sherry (Elms) Pearson, and brother Donald. Survived by children: Clare Ann (Frank) Lasinsky, Ebensburg; Joseph J. (Suzanne) Pearson, Summerhill; Timothy (Cheryl) Pearson, Ebensburg; Jeffrey Pearson, Ebensburg; Melanie (Raymond) Eckenrode; Mary Jo (Edwin) Shrift, New Germany; David D.(Josie) Pearson, Ebensburg; and Melita (Tom) O’Donnell, Ebensburg. Also survived by grandchildren: Melissa (George) Morgan, Ebensburg; Frank (Mandy) Lasinsky, Summerhill; Michael (Lisa) Pearson, Salix; Bryan (Kristen) Pearson, Tyrone; Kevin (Sarah) Pearson, Kentucky; Kristy (Jonathan) Knobloch, New Germany; Charlene (Michael) Cabrera, Maryland; Christina Hemminger, Somerset; Leann (Donnie) Lloyd, Cresson; Tammy (Eric) Nagel, Carrolltown; Danielle (Chris) Giles, Ebensburg; Jonathan Pearson, Virginia; Nathan (Rachel) Pearson, Johnstown; Heather Eckenrode-Stiffler (Jeff), Blue Bell; RJ (Melissa) Eckenrode, Altoona; Valerie (Joshua) Stock, Colorado; Laurie (Scott) Roberts, Mineral Point; Stephen (Melissa) Shrift, New Germany; Ryan (Paula) Shrift, Northern Cambria; Lucas (Allison) Shrift, New Germany; Ashley (Kevin) Swope, Ebensburg; Jodi (Daniel) Rager, Mineral Point; David (Shaina) Pearson, Ebensburg; and Brandon (Amy) O’Donnell, Ebensburg. Survived by 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Ted Myers, Cassandra and sister-in-law, Lois Hannah, Oklahoma. Past member of Catholic Daughters of America Court 680 and Ebensburg Area Senior Citizens. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church. Mary Ellen enjoyed playing bingo, embroidering, pinochle, doing word search books, and most of all spending time with her children and their families. Friends will be received 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at Holy Name Church, Rev. Monsignor David Lockard, celebrant. Committal at Holy Name Cemetery. Special thanks to the caring staff of Grane Hospice, Cambria Care Center, Home Instead, and Blair Senior Services.
