Obituary of Robert E. Nealen

NEALEN – Robert E., 87, of Ebensburg, passed away May 7, 2017 at Cambria Care Center. Born February 19, 1930 in Cheektowaga, New York, son of the late Urban and Margaret Nealen. Preceded in death by brother Urban and sister, Rita Prior. Survived by his wife, Shirley Ann (Fetterman) Nealen, to whom he was married 53 years; sons: Michael (Brenda) Nealen and Joseph (Jodi) Nealen, all of Ebensburg; and grandchildren: Danielle & Courtney; Jennifer, Melissa, Andrew & Allison. Also survived by brother, Theodore, of New York; sister, Barbara (Phil) Masci, California; sister in law Rose Nealen, New York and brother-in-law Ray Prior, Georgia. Retired, with 23 years of service as a maintenance repairman at the Ebensburg State School. He was a Korean War Army veteran. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, the Ebensburg Posts of the American Legion and VFW, and the Ebensburg Senior Center. At his request there will be no viewing. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. David Lockard, celebrant. Interment at Holy Family Cemetery, Colver, with military rites by local veterans’ organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Ebensburg Area Ambulance Association. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg.
