KOVACH – Lewis, 68, of Ebensburg, passed away June 26, 2017 at home. Born July 4, 1948 in Twin Rocks, son of the late James and Helen (Buite) Kovach. Preceded in death by wife, Denise C. (Knapic) Kovach, brothers Val & Joe and sister Esther. Survived by brothers: Charles “Red” (Inga) Kovach of Pittsburgh; James “Buck” (Katy) Kovach of Maine; sister Helen Kovach, Chicago; sisters-in-law: Joanne Kovach, Ohio; Dolores Kovach, Harrisburg; mother-in-law, Christine Knapic, Belsano; brothers-in-law: Douglas (Debbie) Knapic, Nanty Glo and Gerald (Laura) Knapic, Buena Vista, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lewis was retired from the State Correctional Institutions, where he served as a probation officer. A member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and served as a trustee for the Twin Rocks VFW. Also a member of the Carrolltown Rod & Gun Club, the Twin Rocks Cardiff Sportsman’s Club, and the Ebensburg Moose Lodge. At his request there will be no viewing. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Holy Name Church, Monsignor David Lockard, celebrant. Interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Twin Rocks. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lewis’ memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
