Obituary of Dirk McKay Rossman

ROSSMAN – Dirk McKay, 63, of Ebensburg, passed away September 16, 2017 at home. Born March 6, 1954 in Hagerstown, Maryland, son of W. Richard and Mary Eunice Rossman. He is survived by his parents, of Ebensburg; brother Douglas R. (Alice Pescuric) Rossman, Pittsburgh; sisters: Diane Lee Rossman, Ebensburg; Denise Rossman of Johnstown; and Dana (Alan) Myers, of Ebensburg. Also survived by nieces and nephews: Adam & Paige Myers; Spencer (Amanda) Adams Rossman; Andrea (Robert) DeSilva; and great nieces and nephew: Giavanna & Maxwell Adams Rossman. Dirk lived for many years in New York City and worked at the Maître D’ and Ted Hook’s Backstage restaurants. When he returned to Johnstown he was the dining room manager at Sunnehanna Country Club and later at the Edgeworth Country Club, near Sewickley Pa. He enjoyed the theater and was involved in productions with the Cresson Lake Playhouse and the St. Frances College Theater. He was an avid gardener, taking beautiful care of the family’s properties, enjoyed good food and fine wine, and earlier, riding horses. He attended Potomac State College and the West Virginia University and was a talented artist of many mediums. He took pleasure in watching old movies and in entertaining others through engaging story-telling. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. A private memorial service will be held at the family’s convenience. Contributions can be made to the Conemaugh Memorial Hospital’s Community Care Management Fund, through the 1889 Foundation; 4 Valley Pike, Johnstown, Pa. 15905 for their HIV/AIDS Support Group.
