DAMIN – Ceri “Jerry”, 81, of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully September 27, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Born February 21, 1936 in Avella, Washington County, Pa., son of the late Antonio and Marcella (Zanivan) Damin. Preceded in death by brother, Dorino “Dean” Damin; sister, Norina Vrabel, and brother Romeo Damin. Survived by wife, the former Jean Olshavsky, to whom he was married 58 years ; daughter, Carmie, wife of Allen Lynch; Brackenridge; son, Perry Damin, married to the former Mary Brisini, Ebensburg; and grandsons: Damian Lynch; John, Michael & Anthony Damin. Also survived by sister, Angelica (Ross) Trovato, of Pittsburgh. Jerry was a member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and had assisted at the church Bingos. A life member of the Dauntless Fire Company, he had served there as a Fire Policeman and assisted in the kitchen. A Korean War Army veteran, he was a member of the Ebensburg Post 4963 V.F.W. Retired from Damin Printing Company. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, canning, picking mushrooms and assisting with the annual family salami and wine making events. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held and a Fireman’s Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Monsignor David Lockard, celebrant. Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum. Military graveside rites by local veteran’s organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry’s memory may be made to the Holy Name School Angel Fund.
