SKIBO – Joseph P., 88, of Colver, passed away peacefully at home, Oct. 4, 2017, surrounded by his loving daughters. Born Oct. 26, 1928 in Cairnbrook, son of the late Frank,Sr. and Martha (Lehner) Skibo. Preceded in death by wife, Marian (Sagel); grandson, Timothy Casado; brothers, Steve, Ernie, and Frank; and sisters, Irene Novak, Margaret Hoover, Joann Sposito and Mary Skibo. Survived by daughters, Christy (Sam) Glaviano; Connie (Alan) Magyar; Kathy (Buddy) Casado; and Lori Skibo. Grandchildren, Sara, Michael, Lindsay, Scott and Todd. Great grandchildren, Camille, Audrey, Manny, Maggie and Max. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Colver. Retired mine examiner from Bethlehem Mine 33, after 41 years of service. One of the founders and the first elected president of the Colver Sportsmens Club. Joseph was signed to a minor league contract by the Cleveland Indians in the New York Penn League in Batavia, NY., as a pitcher in 1948. An avid outdoorsman, fisherman, trapper, gardener and hunter. He also enjoyed listening to his polkas on Sunday mornings. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Family Church, the Rev. Fr. Bernard Grega, celebrant. Committal, Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, Colver Vol. Fire Company or Holy Family Catholic Church, Colver.
