DAVIS – Iona M., 92, of Patton, passed away Oct. 21, 2017 at Presbyterian Village of Hollidaysburg. Born May 18, 1925 in East Carroll Twp., daughter of the late Hugh and Ida (Lebrun) Whiteford. Preceded in death by husband, James Guy Davis; and sister, Mildred Whiteford. Survived by children, Janice Davis; Denise (Rick) Schmoyer; and Rodney (Donna) Davis. Grandchildren, Greta Schmoyer, Taylor (Ashley) Davis and Ryan (Bre) Davis. Great Grandchildren, Oskar Davis, Odette Davis, Ella Davis, Caleb Griffith and Micah Griffith. Iona Davis was a Past Worthy Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star. Member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Patton. United Methodist Women. Pianist for many years at Calvary Baptist Church, Patton. Member of Patton Music Club, Blair County Car Club and Patton Garden Club. Iona worked as a secretary for much of her life, starting at the St. Benedict Coal Company, Patton Clay Manufacturing Co. and Prince Gallitzin State Park, then finally retiring from the Bureau of Mine Safety, Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Resources. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting; the more challenging the patterns, the better. She also loved baking and helping family and friends. A special thank you to the staff of the Presbyterian Village of Hollidaysburg, for their loving care. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Pastor Geno Bartoletti, officiating. Interment, Fairview Cemetery, Patton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Iona’s memory may be made to Patton Public Library, 444 Magee Ave., Patton, PA 16668.
