HOOVER - Lester Joseph Sr., 94, of Revloc, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at home. He was born January 2, 1924 in Ebensburg, of the late Morgan Thomas and Jessie (Lauer) Hoover and attended schools in Ebensburg. On June 28, 1947 in Holy Name Church in Ebensburg, he married the love of his life, the late Rosemary Stevens. The epic love story of Lester and Rosemary continues. Lester retired from Bethlehem Mine #33, in Ebensburg where he was a heavy equipment operator for 25 years. Prior to working at the mine, Lester worked at former Citizens Lumber Company, later Ebensburg Lumber Company, where he worked as a delivery driver for 20 years. Lester was a faithful member of the former Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Revloc and more recently a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Ebensburg. Lester served in the Army Air Force (AAF) in World War II serving in the transportation division (Corporal). He was stationed in Colorado Springs, CO and the island of Tinian in the South Pacific. He was a lifetime member of Dauntless Fire Company and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. Lester “Babe” lived every day of his life caring for Rosemary and their family. Of all his accomplishments, Babe’s proudest moments were when his family surrounded him. He loved the Moose club and rarely went outside without his Dauntless/Moose cap. Lester is survived by his children, Darlene “Doll” (David) Fox of St. Marys, Thomas of Revloc, David (Lynn) of Ebensburg, Larry (Pam) of Richland, Janet Makin of Ebensburg, Lester J. Jr. (Debbie) of Revloc, Colleen (Brian) Stiles of Cresson, Donald (Kathleen) of Somers Point, N.J., and Joyce Przybys of Lilly. He was affectionately known as "Ta Ta” and “Tutters” to his grandchildren Brett (Cheryl) Fox, Brad (Donna) Fox, Kerry (Joe) Perkins, Kearstin Hoover, Natale (Dustin) Link, Lauren (Kurt) Hoffman, Alexa, Jared, and Zachary Hoover, Karissa (Nate) Ksiazek, Janele Makin, Amber (Will) Sweeney, Josh (Cait) Makin, Lester J. III and Christopher Hoover, Matthew (Sarah) Davis, Andrew Stiles, Margaret, Meredith and Will Hoover, Allyson, Braden and Alayna Przybys; great-grandchildren: Erin Rae Brock, Drew, Avery and Ryan Perkins, Thomas Fox, Maison, Analyse & Wyatt Link and Brooklyn Ksiazek; He is also survived by his sister, Harriet Maurey of Ebensburg. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Ann; brothers and sisters: Merle, Ralph, Martha Hufford, James, Ruth Eck, Rita Schirato, Alean “Lucille” Salley, Joseph, Barbara Urish, Clista Richards, Sara Nickol and a son-in-law, Bruce Makin. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 15th, at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. David Lockard, celebrant. Committal will be held in Holy Name Cemetery. Friends will be received Sunday, January 14th, from 3-7 p.m. at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg where a vigil prayer service will be held. A Fireman’s Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
