Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DeSALVO – Michael A., Jr., 30, of Rochester, PA passed away April 1, 2018. Born February 15, 1988 in Pittsburgh, son of Michael and Diane (Rubisch) DeSalvo. He is preceded in death by his dog, Norma, and maternal grandparents, George and Mary (Stock) Rubisch. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Diane DeSalvo, of New Kensington; sister, Jessica (Edward) Gerrity; nieces, Madelyn and Abigail Gerrity, nephew, Jackson Gerrity, paternal grandparents, Art and Betty (Wasser) DeSalvo, of Ebensburg and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike possessed an uncommon depth of emotion and an old soul that will be sorely missed. He was a truly genuine person who had a knack for telling you what you needed to hear with just the right amount of insight and quirky good humor to make it not hurt quite so badly. He was always willing to listen without judgment and to help in any way that he could. He was a wonderfully reflective person who always strove for greater awareness of himself and others and was committed to his spiritual journey. He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing, and loved dogs and music. We pray that Mike finds the peace in death that so eluded him in life and that he knows how very much he was and will always be loved. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday at Holy Name Catholic Church, the Rev. Msgr. David Lockard, celebrant. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery.
