MAKIN - Catherine Mae died June 6, 2018. She was born September 19, 1923, daughter of Thomas & Edith (Davis) Davis. Preceded in death by parents, siblings Jim Davis, Elizabeth Lowmaster, Thomas Davis, father-in-law Clarence Makin and mother-in-law Charlotte Makin, brothers-in-law Jack Makin, Clyde Makin, Kendal Makin, Ray Gibson, Ray Lowmaster, Thomas MacDonough, Ed McCollough, sister-in-law Ruth Kline and 2 grandchildren. She is survived by husband of 75 years, James C. Makin; children: James (Debbie) Makin; Joan (Jim) Ross; Ken (Susan) Makin; Charlotte (Jim) Folsom; Lu Makin-Byrd (David), Kay Makin (Donn Dusack); 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister Naomi McCullough; brother-in-law P. Ned Makin; sister-in-law M. Mathilda Dickson; brother-in-law Robert (Ann) Makin; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and friend Ruth Makin. She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm in South Ebensburg until 1979. She was a longtime member of South Ebensburg United Church of Christ where she provided alter flowers for many years, taught Sunday School, and served as the church’s Financial Secretary. She was well known for her extensive flower gardens, excellent cooking and beautiful hand-made cards. She loved books, poetry, trees and flowers and generously shared hundreds of bouquets and plants throughout the years. She will affectionately be remembered as "The Boss of the Bathroom Wall". Friends will be received from 5 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., Monday at the funeral home, Rev. Scott Lill, officiating. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery. Jim and his family wish to express their appreciation to Home Nursing caregivers Becky Oklanchak, Betty Fulton and Bridget Byich, to Mary, Judi, Sue, Carolyn, Amy and Father Scott Lill from Conemaugh Regional Hospice and to Dr. NIcole Kidman-Clapper and her staff for all their kindness over the years. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to Conemaugh Regional Hospice for the Hospice Promise Foundation
