HESSLER – Mary Ann (Richardson), 87, formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away peacefully August 31, 2018 surrounded by her family. She has made her final journey home to be with our Lord and to reunite with her beloved husband and her mother. Mary Ann was born August 28, 1931 in Avoca, Iowa, daughter of the late James and Loretta Richardson. Mary Ann is preceded in death by the love of her life, Walter; her sister Maxine; mother and father-in-law Alex and Victoria Hessler and grandchildren: Robert Hessler; Renee Harris; and Brian “Nick” Kysar. She is survived by her loving children: Jim (Mel Guy); Sharon; Deborah (married to John Ondrejko); Walt; and David (married to Debi Galko). Also survived by 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Richardson; and sister, Gloria (Russell) Glass and many nieces and nephews. Mary Ann, along with her husband Walter raised, nurtured and taught respect of life, along with faith in God and the importance of family to their five children. Their home was always the center of family gatherings. Anyone who entered her home would learn that Mary Ann was a wonderful cook and no one ever left hungry. She will be lovingly remembered as Gram, Grandma, and Mimi by her grandchildren, she loved each and every one of them. Our mother was our pillar of strength. She always believed in her children and grandchildren and encouraged us to succeed and fulfill our dreams. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and the Altar-Rosary Society, Nanty Glo. Her children were her life. She was an avid golfer, loved singing in the church choir, and listening and dancing to polkas. We would also like to thank the staff and especially the caregivers of McCullough Place, mom’s home for the last five years. They treated our mom as family. The caregivers will always have a special place in our heart, for the exceptional care they gave our mother and for that we are thankful. Friends will be received from 4-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church, the Rev. Fr. Leonard Voytek, celebrant. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nanty Glo. “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain: for the former things are passed away” Revelations 21:4
