LONG - Mildred M. (Zalno), 85 of Graystone Court, Ebensburg, formerly of Patton, passed away September 27, 2018 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born February 15, 1933 in Barnesboro, daughter of the late Stanley and Anna (Bednar) Zalno. Preceded in death by husband Richard D. Long, and brothers, John and Joseph Zalno. Survived by children: Diane (Bob) Brennan, Florida; Linda (Rodney) Bowman, Carlisle, Pa.; Nancy Long, Florida; Richard A. (Cheryl) Long, Ebensburg; and Joanne (Tim) Mitchell, Altoona. Also grandchildren: Julie, Greg, Bryan, Dallas, Alyssa, Megan, Hailey, Kelli, and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren: Matthew Lennon, Mackinley & Lukas; and Mildred’s sister, Margaret Ondecko, of Emeigh, Pa. Mildred was retired from the Patton Union Press-Courier, where she had served as a typesetter for many years. She enjoyed sewing, and had sewed a number of wedding gowns for the family. Mildred loved bingo, camping, fishing, watching Steeler & Penn State football, spending time with her grandchildren and game nights with her friends at the Graystone Court. A longtime member of Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Patton, and attended Holy Name Parish in Ebensburg. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday at Queen of Peace Church, Patton, the Rev. Fr. Ananias, O.S.B., celebrant. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Patton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the charity of your choice.
