Obituary of Doris Jean Peterman

PETERMAN – Doris Jean (Stephens), 80, of Strongstown, died October 27, 2018 in Strongstown. Born April 8, 1938 in Strongstown, daughter of the late Robert Harold and Violet (Crookshank) Stephens. Last surviving member of her immediate family, she is preceded in death by infant twin sister Laura Ann and brother Robert E. “Mike” Stephens. Survived by husband Raymond, to whom she was married 55 years and children: Theresa (William) Lesso and Raymond (Kim) Peterman, all of Strongstown. Also grandchildren: William Lesso, Danielle (Zach) Will, Joseph Lesso and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed sewing, painting, reading, gardening and tending to her dogs. She also enjoyed playing the piano at her church. She had served as an EMT for the Blacklick Valley Ambulance in her younger years, attended school to attain her LPN license and enjoyed nursing at the former Lee Hospital and later as a private duty nurse. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, Pastor William Warrick, officiating. Interment at Pineland Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Doris Jean’s memory may be made to the Cambria County Humane Society.
