LETCHER - Dorothy Ann, 62, of 118 Lakeview Drive, Hollidaysburg, died Dec. 1, 2005, at her residence, after a 6-year battle with multiple myeloma and kidney disease. Born Jan. 1, 1943, in Ashville, daughter of the late Albert and Marie (Conrad) McMullen. Survived by husband, George E. Letcher Jr., whom she married 41 years ago on Sept. 5, 1964, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville; children, Denise, married to Joseph McDonough, Pittsburgh; Michael, married to the former Lorie Templon, Hollidaysburg; and Maureen, married to Richard Baronner II, Duncansville; and grandsons, Jonathan Letcher, Hollidaysburg; Maxwell Baronner, Duncansville; and Luke McDonough, Pittsburgh. Sister of Brother Paul, TOR Franciscan, Texas; Nancy Clauto, and husband, Herman, Ebensburg; Donald McMullen, and wife, Margie, Ashville; Patrick McMullen, and wife, Kevin, Cresson; Joseph McMullen, and wife, Joyce, Liverpool, N.Y.; Gerald McMullen, and wife, Patricia, Ebensburg; Edward McMullen, and wife, Christine, Gallitzin; and Rebecca Brisini, and husband, Samuel, Ebensburg. Also survived by several aunts and uncles and 23 nieces and nephews. Dorothy went back for her bachelor's degree at the age of 38, and graduated from St. Francis University, Loretto, magna cum laude. She taught 4th grade at St. Francis Xavier/All Saints Catholic Church, Cresson, for 16 years, until she had to go on disability because of her multiple myeloma and kidney disease. Dorothy was a gifted teacher who inspired her students through her love of poetry. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She also enjoyed yoga, reading, walking, going to lunch and talking to friends. Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg. Former member of St. Francis Xavier, Cresson, and St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Anthony J. Legarski, celebrant. Committal, St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where a vigil service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to All Saints Catholic School; Carmelite Sisters, Loretto; or Sisters of St. Ann, Ebensburg, in Dorothy's memory.
