Gwendolyn E. Askew, 91, of Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of Ebensburg and Homer City, died November 16, 2005, in Boca Raton. Born July 19, 1914, in Ebensburg, she was the daughter of the late Morgan W. and Lula Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Askew, who died in 1992. He was the operator-owner of the George Askew Funeral Home in Homer City until he merged in 1977 with C. Frederick Bowser to form the Bowser-Askew Funeral Home. She was also preceded in death by her son, Timothy M., who died in 1977, and her brother, Bruce W. Evans of Matthews, S.C. Survivors include daughter, Martha L. Moore of Marietta, Ohio; two granddaughters, Megan L. Manzolillo of Callicoon, N.Y., and Molly A. Greig of New York City; and two great-grandsons, Luke James and Ben Daniel Manzolillo of Callicoon, N.Y. Mrs. Askew was a graduate of the Indiana Normal School (now Indiana University of Pennsylvania) and was a teacher in the Cambria County and Indiana County school systems. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Boca Raton, and a former member of the United Presbyterian Church, Homer City. Local arrangements for a private memorial service were made by the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home.
