KOENIG - Marie M., 88, Ebensburg, passed away peacefully January 25, 2019 at Maple Winds Care Center, Portage. Born January 26, 1930, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Patrick J. and Rosella (Paulus) Gavin. Preceded in death by parents; husband Karl A. Koenig; son Robert Koenig; infant granddaughter Deanna Koenig; and brother Patrick W. Gavin. Survived by sons; Karl (Linda) Koenig; Mark (Linda) Koenig; Kevin Koenig; Thomas Koenig; Brian Koenig; and daughter-in-law Theresa Koenig; Also 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; niece Elizabeth Wood; and nephew Richard Gavin. Marie was a homemaker and loved reading, playing bingo, and doing crosswords. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her during her final days. A member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg, as well as the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #4963. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc, Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday at Holy Name Church, Rev, Msgr. David Lockard, celebrant. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Marie’s memory to Holy Name School Angel Fund, 215 W. Horner Street, Ebensburg, Pa 15931.
