Obituary of Barbara J. Kensinger

KENSINGER – Barbara Jean (Smith), 61, of Commodore, passed away March 25, 2019 at home. Born January 8, 1958 in Colver, daughter of the late Joseph and Donna LaRue (Widdowson) Smith. Survived by husband, O. Alan, to who she was married 31 years and sons: Joseph M. Kensinger, Indiana and Matthew A. Kensinger, Raliegh, NC. ; and Alan’s children: Jeriame Kensinger, Florida and Anissa Musser, Alexandria, Pa. A 1979 graduate of UPJ, with a BS in education, she had served as an elementary school teacher at St. Benedict’s School, Carrolltown for some years and substituted for the Penn Manor School District. Barb was a lifelong member of the Colver Presbyterian Church and had been a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she had served as past matron. She loved her role as a mother and wife and enjoyed spending time and caring for her family. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where an Eastern Star Service will be held. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery.
