LAUER – KELLEY - Maxine (Luther) 90, of Ebensburg, passed away May 10, 2019 at Cambria Care Center. Born July 30, 1928 in Luthersburg, Jefferson County, daughter of the late James M and Lola Alma (Dunlap) Luther. Last surviving member of her immediate family, she is preceded in death by first husband Cletus “Skip” Lauer; second husband Anthony “Tony” Kelley; son Dale Lauer; six brothers and five sisters. Survived by children: Gary Lauer, Westerville, Ohio; Linda Ann Reese, Belvidere, Illinois; Mark A. Lauer, Ebensburg; daughter in law Cheryl Lauer, Ebensburg; 7 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and 7 great-grandchildren. A member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church and the Ebensburg VFW Auxiliary. Maxine was retired from Bell-Atlantic in 1991. Life member and past chapter president of the Verizon-Telecom Telephone Pioneers Clubs and was inducted into the Verizon Employee Hall of Fame. An active fund raiser since 1975 for numerous councils, clubs, and charitable organizations, she had been key in raising funds for the Ebensburg Center Pavilion and was presented with a plaque by the Railroad Preservation Committee for her effort in fund raising for the Cresson Railroad Park, just to name a few. Maxine loved to travel, spending time with family and friends, meeting new people and seeking out causes that made life better for so many. At her request there will be no viewing. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maxine’s memory may be made to The Pioneers, (A Volunteer Network), 416 Seventh Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15219
