Obituary of Attorney Bruce F. McKenrick

McKenrick - Attorney Bruce F., 52, of Ebensburg, died unexpectedly at home on January 7, 2006. Born April 16, 1953 in Johnstown, son of Fremont J. and Margaret (Harvey) McKenrick, he attended the Central Cambria School District schools and Cornell University, where he received a B.A. Degree in 1975. He enrolled in Dickinson School of Law from which he received his law degree in 1978. He and his father, Attorney Fremont McKenrick, conducted a partnership practice of law in Ebensburg since 1978, Bruce being the fourth generation attorney in the McKenrick Family to engage in law practice in Ebensburg. Bruce is survived by his parents; sons, Kevin Bruce McKenrick and Neil Fremont McKenrick, all of Ebensburg; a sister, Ann, married to Gary G. Chicchi, East Brunswick, New Jersey; and the mother of his sons, Janis G. Stratton, of Ebensburg.
During his legal career Bruce served as Delegate to the Pennsylvania State Bar Association; as President, Secretary and Member of the Board of Directors of the Cambria County Bar Association, as well as Solicitor of the Borough Zoning Board for many years. He was a Permanent Hearing Officer for Domestic Relations for many years. He was active in the Ebensburg Presbyterian Church, serving for more than 35 years in the choir, and several terms on the Board of Trustees and was a current Elder of the Church at his death. Bruce participated in various sports, including: ice hockey, lacrosse, hunting, sailing, skiing, and running, having participated in a New York Marathon race. He was an Eagle Scout and also coached Soccer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at the Ebensburg Presbyterian Church, followed by a luncheon and celebration of his life immediately following the service in the church hall. The Rev. James Farrer, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bruce's memory may be made to the Ebensburg Presbyterian Church or the Ebensburg Cambria Free Public Llibrary.
