SCHIRATO - Mario A., 85, Nanty Glo, died Jan. 13, 2006, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born Nov. 23, 1920, in Clarence, Pa., son of the late Antonio and Catherine (Pazzin) Schirato. Preceded in death by grandchildren, Brian Schirato and Richard McDonald; brothers, Aldo and Tony; sisters, Ida Johnson and Loretta Zanin; and sons-in-law, Ron McDonald and David Phillipson. Survived by wife of 64 years, the former Rita Hoover, Nanty Glo; children, Rita McDonald, Nanty Glo; Marlene Matejovich, and husband, Terry, Vinco; Ronald, married to the former Christine Kovach; Daniel, married to the former Theresa Strugala, both of Nanty Glo; Cindy Molinick, and husband, Stefan, Twin Rocks; Robert, married to the former Brenda Tunget, Longview, Texas; and Lisa Howard, and husband, Hoby, Nanty Glo; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alma DeYulis, Nanty Glo, and Antoinette Hunter, South Lyon, Mich. Member of St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo. Retired coal miner with 44 years of service. U.S. Army veteran, having service in World War II. Life member of the Beech Creek American Legion; Nanty Glo VFW, Post #3489; Twin Rocks and Cardiff Sportsman Club; and UMWA Local #1386, Nanty Glo. Friends will be received at the Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, on Monday from 3 to 9 p.m., where a Liturgical Wake will be held Monday evening. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Father David Peles, the celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Military service will be conducted by the local veterans organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's School.
