PERSIO - Philip, 85, Ebensburg, died Jan. 25, 2006, at home. Born Sept. 6, 1920, in Tottea, Abruzzo, Italy, son of Domenick and Domenica (Masci) Persio. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Peppino; and great-granddaughter, Lydia Grace. Survived by wife, the former Carmella Giangirolami; these children: Dominick, married to the former Anne Marie Galli, Blandon; Nicholas, married to the former Jean Ann Ertter, Ebensburg; Gasper, married to the former Donna Westwood, Northern Cambria; Michael, Ebensburg; and Maria Young, Johnstown; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Brother of Dino Persio and Geno Persio, both of Ebensburg. Death ends a marriage union of 64 years. Army veteran of World War II and life member of VFW Post 4963, Ebensburg. Friends received from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Matevish & Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil wake service will be held Sunday evening. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus. Committal, Holy Name Mausoleum, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Holy Name School Angel Fund, in Phil's memory.
