RYLKE - Walter, 81, East Highland Avenue, Ebensburg, died Nov. 10, 2004, at home. Born April 21, 1923, in Johnstown, son of the late Frederick and Gertrude (Hoffman) Rylke. Preceded in death by brother, Frederick, and sister, Geraldine. Survived by wife, Alberta Marie Crouse Rylke, to whom he was married 57 years; and daughters, Judith (Roger) Hughes of Fredericksburg, Va., and Barbara Fry of Pittsburgh; also grandchildren, Kimberly G. Williams, Amanda B. Eisele, Jonathan D. Hughes, Morgan A. Hughes, Megan E. Hughes, Sara E. Fry, and Whitney L. Fry; and great-grandson, Evan; and another great-grandson on-the-way. Brother of Audrey Cervik, Florida. Walt was the former owner of Ebensburg Lumber Supply. Member of Ebensburg First Presbyterian Church where he had served as a trustee. World War II Army veteran. Walter had served on Ebensburg Borough Council and Central Cambria School Board. Member of Ebensburg American Legion, Post 363, and charter member of the Legion's bowling team. Member of Summit Lodge 312, F&AM, Williamsport Consistory. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, reading, following football and playing cards, especially pinochle and bridge. An avid bowler, he won many trophies and was a member of the "250 Club." Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Jim Farrer officiating. Interment, Oak Cemetery, Daisytown. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Donations in Walter's memory may be made to Ebensburg First Presbyterian Church organ fund.
