TORTA - Ray E., age 69, Ebensburg, died July 1, 2006, at Conemaugh Hospital. Born Aug. 24, 1936, in Brandy Camp, Pa., son of Angelo and Antoinetta (DeCanal) Torta. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 32 years, Yvonne "Bonnie" (Italiano) Torta. Survived by daughter, Anna Marie, wife of Mark Croyle, Baltimore, Md., and grandson, Justus Mark Croyle. Brother of Louis Torta, Shippenville, Pa., and Joseph Torta, Erie. Ray was a retired Pennsylvania state trooper. He also served in the criminal investigation unit in the U.S. Army. Ray worked for a local well drilling concern for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil wake services will be held Tuesday evening. Funeral Mass, 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg. Entombment, Holy Name Mausoleum, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Windber Hospice in Ray's memory.
