MITCHELL - John L., 76, of Vintondale, passed away on July 21, 2006. Born April 17, 1930, in Johnstown, son of the late James and Ida (Noon) Mitchell. Preceded in death by son, Francis E. Mitchell, in 1981; brothers, George, James, Albert and Charles; and sisters, Clara Safko, Anna Roth, Rachel Speicher, Erma Hess and Louise. John was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survived by his wife, the former Anna Skovensky; children, Helen M. Liptak, and husband, Kenneth Liptak, of Chesterton, Ind.; John J. Mitchell, and wife, Carol, of Vintondale; and Joann L. Lacko, and husband, Raymond Lacko, of Johnstown; grandchildren, Kenneth and Scott Liptak; Kelly Marines; Melissa Dishong; Krystyn Mitchell; Francis and Raymond Lacko; great-grandchildren, Evan Liptak; Jacob and Madison Marines; Mitchell and Dylan Dishong; Alena Lacko; and Morna Haluska. John will be sadly missed by all his family and many special friends, especially those from St. Mark's Episcopal Church and Matt Talbott Group. John was retired since 1982 from the Bethlehem Steel Blast Furnace. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed being outdoors, cutting wood, working on the farm and his daily coffee breaks with George and Joyce Shirk. Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Father Doug Blakeloch. Inurnment, Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
