Lieb - Louis J., Jr. "Herky", 86, Lovell Avenue, Ebensburg, died July 29, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born August 23, 1919 in Colver, son of the late Louis J. Sr., and Virginia J. (Soisson) Lieb. Preceded in death by brothers: Rev. Thomas Aquinas Lieb, T.O.R., William, John Bernard, Joseph, and James Lieb; and sisters Mary Lieb and Virginia Waring. Survived by loving wife, the former Yvonne Donahue, to whom he was married 54 years, and these children: MIchael J., married to the former Carol A. Farabaugh, Ebensburg; Mary Jo (Lieb) Roberts, Redding, Connecticut; Christopher D., at home; Polly M., wife of Col. Christopher Conner, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and grandchildren: Justin M., Michele, and Sarah Lieb; Emily and Elliott Roberts; twins Samuel & Madison, and Joseph Conner. Brother of Rev. Marianus Lieb, T.O.R. , Mt. Assisi Monestary, Lorretto; Susanna Kirsch, Ebensburg; Janet Zabronsky, Loretto; and Nancy Rupp of Erie. Mr. Lieb retired as Assistant Chief Clerk of the Cambria County Commissioners Office, he had also served as former Superintendent of the Cambria County Juvenile Detention Home and worked as a former Ebensburg Borough Policeman. A World War II USMC veteran, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant, he had served in the Europeon, Asiatic and Pacific Theatres. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family, playing cards and pitching horseshoes. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church and the Noctornal Adoration Society. Founding member, past president and board member for St. Vincent de Paul Society in Ebensburg. At Herky's request, there will be no viewing, all are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., Friday at Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Committal at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Nicktown. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Herky's memory may be made to the Ebensburg Chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Suite 88, 3133 New Germany Road, Ebensburg, Pa. 15931 or the Windber Hospice, 600 Somerest Avenue, Windber, Pa. 15963.
