LYDIC - Eleanore (Thorburn), 92, of Ebensburg, passed away Aug. 23, 2006, in Chicago, Ill. Born May 31, 1914, in Glen Richey, Pa., daughter of the late James Bigby and Zoe Prudence (Rowles) Thorburn. Preceded in death by husband, John Arthur Lydic, and brothers, Jack, William and Rex Thorburn. Last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by children, Marcia (Thomas) Lutter of Crystal Lake, Ill.; James Arthur (Margaret Zakrowski) of Centennial, Colo.; and John Franklin (Susan Duman) of Selinsgrove, Pa.; grandchildren, Scott Lutter, Kristina Lutter Bornhoeft, John Lydic, Allyson Lydic Gretz, Amanda Lydic Cook, Emily Lydic and Jack Lydic; and great-grandchildren, Alex Lutter, Max Lutter, Declan Bornhoeft and J.L. Cook. Member of Ebensburg Presbyterian Church. Retired school teacher from Central Cambria School District. Member of the Retired Teachers Association and Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Sorority. An avid knitter and seamstress, she took great joy in making treasured things for her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, the Rev. Jim Farrer officiating. Interment, Lloyd Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleanore's memory may be made to Ebensburg Presbyterian Church or American Cancer Society.
