Obituary of John B. Burkhardt

BURKHARDT - John B. Sr., 60, Pensacola Road, Ebensburg, died September 1, 2006 at home. Born March 20, 1946 in Johnstown, son of the late Paul George and Anna (Micik) Burkhardt. Preceded in death by granddaughter Haley Rose Gergely and nephew Paul Bill Burkhardt. Survived by wife, the former Helen Louise (Weimer) Burkhardt, to whom he was married 40 years, and these children: Helen, wife of Steve Gergely, Colver; John, Jr. , married to the former Georgia Parizack; Scotty Burkhardt of Ebensburg; and Jason, married to the former Nicole White, of Marstellar; seven grandchildren, Jessie, Jody, Joshua, Brady Burkhardt and Andrea Diehl, and David and Abbey Gergely. Also survived by brother, Paul and his wife Diane Burkhardt of Homer City. John had been employed as a construction worker, but has been disabled for a couple of years. He was an avid hunter and loved the great outdoors. Member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, New Germany and the Jackson Twp Sportsmanýs Club. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m., until time of Funeral Service at 8:00 p.m., Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, the Rev. Alfred Patterson, O.S.B., officiating. Committal at Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to his family.
