TACKETT - Charles A., 61, Altoona, formerly of Vintondale, passed quietly in his sleep Sept. 5, 2006, at home, after a long battle with illness. Born March 18, 1945, in Johnstown, son of the late Charles and Isbell (Wojtowicz) Tackett. Preceded in death by grandparents, Andrew and Stella "Baba" Wojtowicz. Survived by sons, Damien Tackett, and wife, Jaclyn, and Joseph Tackett; grandchildren, Tyler, Joshua, David and Zackary; and sister, Caroline Connelly, and husband, John. Chuck was a devout Roman Catholic. Those who knew him would remember him as a man with great potential, who had the heart of a poet. Graduate of Nanty Glo-Vintondale Joint High School and attended IUP. Army veteran of the Vietnam era. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at SS. Timothy -- Mark Chapel, Vintondale, Father James H. Conrad, STL, the celebrant. Military rites will be conducted by the local veterans organizations at the church. The Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, is in charge of arrangements.
