ITLE - Russell C. "Bud," 85, Vale Wood Road, Loretto, died Dec. 23, 2006, at Altoona Regional Health System-Altoona Hospital Campus. Born Dec. 20, 1921, in R.D. Loretto, son the of the late Charles and Bernadette (Hines) Itle. Preceded in death by sisters, Camilla Hogue, Bernadine and Florine, and brothers, Francis and Gerald. Survived by wife of 60 years, the former Helen Conrad, whom he married Sept. 28, 1946 in Ashville.; children, Joseph (Regina Shrift), Martinsburg; William (Joyce Brisini), Loretto; Matt (Beth Fulton), Loretto; Janice Itle, Mark Hanna; Pat (Karen Yingling), Tim, Andy (Delores Kalwasinski), and Dan (Machelle Moyer), all of Loretto; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Youngest and last member of his immediate family. World War II Navy veteran. Past co-owner and operator of Vale Wood Farms, Loretto, with his brother, Gerald, for 30 years, retiring in the mid-1990s. Bud enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting. He served on the school boards of Cresson Joint School District and Prince Gallitzin School District. Life member of Ebensburg Moose, member of Sankertown VFW, and Loretto American Legion. Member of Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Monsignor Robert Mazur, nephew of the deceased, and the Rev. Monsignor Timothy Swope, celebrants. Committal, St. Michael Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where a vigil service will be held. Military rites in charge of Sankertown VFW, Loretto American Legion and other local military organizations. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to a charity of your choice in Bud's memory.
