COLEMAN - Alfred B., 75, Johnstown, died Jan. 6, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 4, 1931, in Johnstown, son of John R. and Ida (Locher) Coleman. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, John, Edward and Charles; and sisters, Rita and Patricia Daniels. Survived by wife of 50 years, the former Nancy G. Rorabaugh; children, Jeffrey, married to the former Christina Smith, Parkhill, and Tammy, Brambleton, Va.; also granddaughters, Ashley and Courtney Coleman. Brother of Ronald (Shirley), Franklin, and Dale, East Taylor; and special sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and David Marsh, Johnstown. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a policeman in East Taylor Township and served as police chief from 1960 to 1963. He retired from Bethlehem Steel with four years of service as the personnel director for the freight car division. He served as an East Taylor Township supervisor and was a member of the water authority. He served on the Conemaugh Valley school board from 1972 to 1983. He was justice of the peace from 1964 to 1970. Member of Conemaugh-Franklin Lions Club, VFW and Legion and the East Taylor Volunteer Fire Company. Life member of Franklin Volunteer Fire Company. He was appointed district justice in 1983 and held that office until 2001, at which time he was appointed senior district magistrate. Friends received from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Conemaugh, Father Robert E. Hall, celebrant. Committal, Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Lions Club memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Military graveside rites by the members of the Conemaugh Valley Detachment Marine Corps League. In lieu of flowers, family asks that contributions be made to the American Heart Association. Family is being served by Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage.
