MELNYK - Catherine, 96, Ebensburg, formerly of Colver, died March 20, 2007, in Ebensburg. Born Nov. 1, 1910, in Conemaugh, daughter of Zachary and Elizabeth Fetsick. Preceded in death by parents; husband, John Melnyk, who died April 21, 1974, after 47 years of marriage; son, Harry; infant son, John Jr.; grandson, Robert Melnyk; son-in-law, John Kolasa; granddaughter, Carole Kolasa; brothers, Nicholas and John Fetsick; and sisters, Mary Katynski, Bertha Karr, Ann Fetsick and Rose Chemereys. Last member of her immediate family. Survived by daughters, Helen Kolasa, Northern Cambria; Ann, wife of Joseph Yamrick, Indiana, Pa.; Irene, wife of Judge F. Joseph Leahey, Ebensburg; and Mary Catherine, wife of Robert Swatsworth, Seward; and daughter-in-law, Rose (Golmicz) Melnyk, Cleveland; also 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Oldest member of Protection of Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, Revloc, where she was a member of the Apostleship of Prayer. Also a member of Colver Senior Citizens, whom she entertained by her expertise in playing the harmonica on their many road trips. She will be remembered for her love of music and dancing and her love for her grandchildren. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where Parastas will be sung at 7:30 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Protection of BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, Revloc, the Rev. Oliver Hebert officiating. Interment, Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg. Vichnaya Pamyat.
