YANUTA - John J., 90, Cranford, N.J., formerly of Ebensburg, died March 25, 2007, in South Amboy, N.J. Born Nov. 24, 1916, in Vintondale, son of Charles and Meri (Valosin) Yanuta. Preceded in death by parents, and wife, the former Margaret "Peg" Sharpe. Survived by daughters, Stephanie Soules, New Jersey, and Theresa Yerkes, Virginia; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Brother of Sophie Puccio, New York; Mary Zavis, New Jersey; Helen Campolungo, New Jersey; Bertha Popp, Florida; and George Yanuta, Colver. John worked and retired from Easter Gas -- Fuel Coal Co., Colver, then moved to New Jersey in 1959 and worked for Foodfair. He maintained an active membership in the UMWA and the Teamsters. Member of the Moose, Nanty Glo, and a life member of VFW, Post 4963, Ebensburg. Upon his retirement in New Jersey, he and his wife, Peg, moved back to Pennsylvania where they enjoyed their retirement years among family and old friends. John moved back to New Jersey in September 2006, where he lived with his family until he passed away. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Matevish -- Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus. Committal, St. Mary's Cemetery, Nanty Glo. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Dauntless Fire Company or Ebensburg Ambulance, in John's memory.
