Watson - Barden Dean, 86, of Ebensburg, died April 11, 2007 in Ebensburg. Born October 10, 1920 in Nanty Glo, son of the late Barden L. and Emma Priscilla (Altimus) Watson. Preceded in death by wife, the former Margaret ýPegý Weaver; sisters Ann Kelly and Ellen Hibbard, and infant brothers. Survived by daughters: Marilyn, wife of Ed Learn; and Linda, wife of John Enos Silbaugh, all of Ebensburg; six grandchildren: Karen (Harry) Gittings, Randy (Pam) Learn, Marcey (Ricky) Karashin, Craig Learn, Susan (Rick) Hersh, John Silbaugh; ten great-great grandchildren, Whitney and Stephanie Learn, Chad and Alissa Croyle, Sarah and Kacey Haluska, Patrick and Austin Learn, John and Dillan Silbaugh, and great-great grandson, Benjamin Conjeski. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Barden was a member of the Belsano United Methodist Church and also regularly attended the Ebensburg United Methodist Church since 1969. Member of Summit Lodge #312 F & A.M. He retired in 1970 with 32 years of service as an Outside Mine Supervisor for Bethlehem Mines #31 and retired again in 1982 with 12 years as an Inspector Supervisor for the State Department of Environmental Resources. Owned and operated the Mundys Corner Esso Service Center from 1956 to 1959. A World War II Army Air Corp veteran, where he had achieved the rank of corporal and was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon. With his late wife, he wintered in Eustis, Florida for 16 years and achieved his goal of becoming a professional shuffleboard player. Friends will be received from 6 to 9:00 p.m., Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, and from 1:00 p.m until time of Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home, the Rev. Roger Johnson, officiating. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barden's memory to the Ebensburg or Belsano United Methodist Churches.
