SLOAN - Kathryn E. (Conway), 96, of Admiral Peary Highway, Mineral Point, went to be with the Lord, joining her husband, December 21, 2007 at home. Born June 11, 1911 in Johnstown, daughter of the late John and Mary (Crossen) Conway. Preceded in death by husband, Dr. Howard G. Sloan, M.D. who passed away in 1987; brothers Richard, John, and Jeremiah Conway, and sisters Mary Sheehan, Ann Mock, Margaret Thomas, and Geraldine Clark. Survived by two nephews and two nieces: Marylese Sheehan, and Michael Clark, of Johnstown; Sim Conway Thomas of Rancho Cordova, California, and Margaret Jayne (Thomas) Flanigan of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Also 17 great nephews and nieces with sadness in their hearts. Kathryn was also blessed with a special care giver, Sandy Johns as well as Vivian Anstead, Margaret Gates, Gloria Wagner, Angie Wieczorek, and Margaret Zidak. Kathryn was a registered nurse for the former Mercy Hospital in Johnstown. A long-time member of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, Mundys Corner, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where a vigil prayer service will be held that evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at St. John Vianney Church, the Rev. Paul Robine, celebrant. Committal at St. Benedict Cemetery in Carrolltown.
