BERES - John, 91, Vintondale, died July 4, 2007, at home. Born Dec. 20, 1915, in Vintondale, son of the late Andrew and Ethel (Orban) Beres. Preceded in death by brother, Andrew, and sisters, Mary Beres and Ethel McLaughlin. Surviving are sister, Elizabeth Bone, Woodhaven, Mich.; niece, Guyla Doughty (Tim), Allen Park, Mich.; and nephews, Dennis Mosso, Maryland, and Al Beres (Dinah), California. Member of the Hungarian Reform Church of the United Church of Christ, Vintondale. World War II Army veteran. Retired coal miner, working mostly in the mines in Vintondale. Member of UMWA Local 1386, Nanty Glo; Vintondale VFW Post 5211; and Moose Lodge 207, Nanty Glo. Life member of the Vintondale Fire Company. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, the Rev. Dr. Pospa Posta officiating. Interment to follow in Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg. Military service will be conducted by local veterans organizations.
