BARAN - Joan I., 73, of Patton, died peacefully Saturday, September 1, 2007 surrounded by her three children and several family members. Joan was born December 14, 1933 in Spangler, caring daughter of the late Joseph and Ida (McConnell) Bertison. Preceded in death by beloved husband George Baran and sister Barbara Cence. She was the loving mother of Georgine (Rod) Rusnak of Rochester, NY; Margaret (Kevin) Petak of Manassas Park, VA; Joseph (Arlette) Baran of Pittsburgh, PA; and grandmother to Corey, Melody, Andrea, Kyle, Katie and Molly. Also survived by sisters: Dorothy (Paul) McNulty, Altoona, PA and Margaret (Ron) Lipin, Madison, Ohio; and brother-in-law Pat Cence, Patton. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing. Divine Liturgy will be sung at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 8th, at St. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Patton, the Rev. Oliver Hebert, officiating. Committal at church cemetery. Arrangements by Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg.
