TONTALA - Frank J. Sr., 80, of Conway, died Sept. 14, 2007, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a lengthy illness. Born April 2, 1927, in Twin Rocks, he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna Drozdz Tontala. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Nellie C. Tontala, Sept. 23, 2006; a brother, John Tontala; brothers-in-law, Joseph, Michael and John Materna; and sisters-in-law, Julia Materna, Katherine Ann Melkovich and Mary Villani. Surviving are three sons, Frank J. Jr., Maryland; William M., Columbus, Ohio; and Thomas P., Ohio; a daughter, Kathleen J., Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Frank III, Andrew and Nicole Tontala; a brother, Joseph, Nanty Glo; and a sister, Mary Lanzendorfer, Mundys Corner. He retired in 1986 from the U.S. Postal Service, airport mail facility. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Pacific during WWII. He was a member of the Baden American Legion and Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Conway. Friends were received in the Poland Funeral Home Inc., 901 First Ave., Conway. A Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, in Our Lady of Peace Church, Conway. Interment followed in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
