FAISH - Steven, 54, of East Crawford Street, Ebensburg, passed away at home November 10, 2007 of an apparent heart attack. Born October 23, 1953 in Johnstown, son of the late Charles and Margaret (Holupka) Faish. Preceded in death by infant son, Bryan, sister, Stephanie Wissinger, and four infant siblings. Survived by loving wife, the former Adele Dumm to whom he was married 28 years and sons: Craig, Indiana, Pa.; Derek, Pittsburgh; and Corey, at the US Military Academy at West Point. Brother of Barb Sabonya, Kermit, Texas; Charles "Chuck" Faish, Gibsonia; James Faish, Lancaster County; Marjorie Faish, Harrisburg, and John Faish of Sierra Vista, Arizona. Also survived by father and mother-in-law Donald and Hilda Dumm, of Ebensburg. A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, Class of 1978, with a BS degree in Mine Engineering. He had been employed as an engineer for the Department of Environmental Protection for 28 years. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg Council #522 Knights of Columbus, Ebensburg Moose, and Post 363 American Legion. Steve also was recently elected president of the AFSCME Local 1982. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting (especially on the first day of buck season) and loved coaching baseball and football, a tradition which began when his boys were young. Steve was a great tinkerer who enjoyed keeping busy; he restored cars and motorcycles in his spare time. A Navy Reserve Lieutenant Commander having served at the Ebensburg Reserve Center as a Navy SeaBee. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc. Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held Monday evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Committal at Holy Name Cemetery. Since Steve enjoyed high school sports in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Central Cambria High School Athletics. A Knights of Columbus Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
