SOBONYA - Frank "Fritz", 89, Twin Rocks, died Nov. 21, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Oct. 27, 1918, in Cardiff, son of the late John and Theresa Sobonya. Preceded in death by brothers, John, Steve and Paul, and sisters, Grace, Rachel, Helen, Margaret, Mary and Sarah. Survived by wife of 57 years, Carolyn, Twin Rocks; children, Frank, and wife, Jean, Wilmington, Del.; David, and wife, Karen, Cross Junction, Va.; Rich and Tina, Haymarket, Va.; Michael, Twin Rocks; and Karen Fordyce, and husband, Greg, South Elgin, Ill.; and grandchildren, Rich, Jessica, Bryan, Jennifer, Christina, Courtney, Breanna, Isabella and Nathan. Member of SS. Timothy and Mark Church, Twin Rocks. Retired from Bethlehem Coal Mines with over 40 years of service. A U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II from 1942 to 1946, in the European Theater. Also a member of Twin Rocks VFW, Post 7605. Fritz was an avid outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed fishing and picking wild mushrooms and ginseng. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where a liturgical wake will be held Sunday. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at SS. Timothy and Mark Church, Twin Rocks, with the Rev. Father David Peles. Interment to follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Twin Rocks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SS. Timothy and Mark Church. Military service will be conducted by local veterans organizations.
