ILLIG - Mary B. (Begeny), 85, of Lemon Drop Road, Ebensburg, passed away December 4, 2007 at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital campus. Born October 9, 1922 in Hastings, daughter of the late George and Anna (Script) Begeny. Preceded in death by husband Thomas who passed away in 2004; brothers George, John and Joseph Begeny, and sisters: Ann Lucash and Helen Soltys. Survived by loving daughters: Barbara, wife of Jose Avilies, at home; Dianna, wife of William Smith, Stafford, Virginia; granddaughters: Patricia Boyle and Jennifer McFall; and great-grandchildren: Ashley and David McFall and Thomas Edward Boyle. Sister of Michael (Dorothy) Begeny, Warren, Pa.and Margaret Stumpf, Middleburg Heights, Ohio. Member of the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto. Mary enjoyed painting, gardening, dancing and loved her role as grandmother. Retired from the Ebensburg Center (State School) and formerly active in the Woman of the Moose in Patton. Friends will be received from 2-4 pm, Sunday and Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held Monday afternoon. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at the Basilica of St. Michael, the Rev. Msgr. Timothy J. Swope, celebrant. Committal in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mary's memory may be made to the hospice program of your choice.
