STRITTMATTER - Philip A., 92, formerly of Ebensburg, died Dec. 4, 2007, at Grandview Care Center, Sun City West, Ariz. He was born in Bradley Junction, son of the late Alex and Mary F. (Zeak) Strittmatter. He was preceded in death by first wife, Elizabeth (Springer) Strittmatter; second wife, Betty (Daugherty) Strittmatter; daughter, Annette "Penny" (Strittmatter) Sherlock, wife of Edward Sherlock, Johnstown; son, Thomas Strittmatter, Ebensburg; infant brother, Clemet; brother, Demetrius, Munster; infant sisters, Margaret Mary and Lucille; sister, Julia (Strittmatter) Jones, Loretto; sister, Ursula Strittmatter, Bradley Junction; and sister, Rose Hilda (Strittmatter) Vetock Strittmatter, Ebensburg. Surviving are his son, James Strittmatter, and wife, Velma, Chicago, Ill.; sister, Ellen (Strittmatter) Ferry, Shippensburg; brother, John Strittmatter, and wife, Mary, St. Augustine; sister-in-law, Eleanor (Biter) Strittmatter, Loretto; special son-in-law, Edward Sherlock, and wife, Debbie, Johnstown; three grandchildren: Sean, Brian, and wife, Candice, and Erin Sherlock; five great-grandchildren: Brendan, Molly, Maggie, Cullan and Aidan Sherlock; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a former member of Banner Grange and Ebensburg Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight. He had a master's degree in education and mathematics, and taught at Patton High School, Cambria Heights, and in the Phoenix, Ariz., School System. He was National President of the Professional Educators Association. Philip was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sun City West, Ariz., where his funeral was held. Interment at St. Francis Cemetery. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Church, Ebensburg, by Monsignor Arnold L. Gaus.
