Obituary of Charles Luther Tarwater

TARWATER – Charles L. “Chuck”, 64 of Somerset, formerly of Ebensburg, passed away suddenly November 8, 2019 at UPMC Somerset Hospital.  Born June 5, 1955 in Torrance, California, son of Elvin Jesse Tarwater and Marjorie Clara Nagy and Michael Nagy.   Preceded in death by brother, Michael Nagy, and sisters: Maryanne Ortega, Dixie Hyder, and Lorraine Nagy. Survived by son Trevor Tarwater; wife of 29 years, Patricia (McKavish) Tarwater; all of Ebensburg;  Friend, Joeanne Steras, Somerset; and brothers and sisters:  Murvin Nagy, Harrisburg; Joan Nagy, Altoona; Laura Delmas, California; Rose Lewis, Blairsville; and Matthew Nagy, South Carolina;  also numerous nieces and nephews, and “best buds” Steve Mocek and Rich Vanslavie.  Chuck was a graduate of the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Mount Aloysius College.  He had been employed by Allegheny & Chesapeake, Health South, Conemaugh Health and Indiana Total Therapy.   A Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church in Ebensburg, where he was active as a cook for the annual church festival.  He enjoyed cooking, drawing, reading, gardening and attending the Nagy family fishing camps.  He had a passion for trout fishing, motorcycles, classic cars, rock & roll music, the beach, and Mexican food.  In addition to loving his career, he enjoyed helping people, and was always available to assist folks in need.  Chuck was also an Army veteran of the Vietnam War era.  Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to the time of funeral service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 14^th, at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc, Ebensburg, Rev. Fr. Brian Warchola, officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Chuck’s memory may be made to the Hollidaysburg Veteran’s Home “Resident Activities Fund”, 500 Municipal Drive, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648
